History

Lilydale Montrose United (LMU) was formed in 2020 following the merger of Montrose Soccer Club and Mount Lilydale Old Collegians Soccer Club (OCSC).

Today LMU fields teams across Football Victoria State League, Bayside FA, junior community football and Over-35s/Over-45s, with nearly 400 members.

Origins of Montrose SC (1974–2019)

Montrose SC’s roots date back to 1974, beginning as a single team playing friendlies against local clubs such as:

  • Bowater Scott

  • Fibremakers United (now Croydon Ranges FC)

Matches in the early years were played on spare land behind the Fibremakers factory on Canterbury Road.

In 1975, Tessa Furniture became the first club sponsor, and the team competed under the name Tessa Town.

  • 2010 – Legends team won the Bayside League title

  • 2011 – Senior team won Bayside Division 1 and earned promotion to the Premier League

These achievements established Montrose as a competitive and respected Bayside FA club.
